Standard 135LC has a maximum of 11.33 BHP at 8500rpm and 11.65Nm at 5500rpm. Have you ever wondered what are all these means.
To calculate the BHP at 5500rpm,
First, you need to convert the torque from Nm to lb/ft:
11.65Nm x 0.7375 = 8.59 lb/ft torque
Then, use this formula: BHP = (torque x rpm)/5252
8.59 x 5500 / 5252 = 9 BHP
A simple question to you guys: Why do I calculate the BHP at maximum torque rpm?
Make a guess ......
and here's the answer:
I am able to find out how good is the engine at mid range and top rpm. From the result, 135LC standard engine already has 80% of horsepower at mid range rpm. This is very good for cruising and mileage, but it is bad for top speed.
The reason is that, I rev so hard from 5500rpm to 8500rpm and gain 20% BHP only =.="
The worst thing is, the rpm limiter kicks in at 9500rpm, but max power is just at 8500rpm. From 8500rpm -> 9500rpm, we have a drop in power. This is why many people can get 120kph with 3rd gear when going downhill, but on straight road, it takes yearrssss to reach 120kph. How about uphill? Oh gosh, I am damn happy if I got 100kph at full throttle.
So, I started to study on engine performance tuning, just to make the engine revs happier from mid to high rpm.
Oh no, I am the one who gets happiness only. The engine definitely feels sad because he has to do more work.
Hai it's me Devilvanc from LYN forum. Just saying hai
ReplyDeleteWah going downhill with 3rd gear and hitting 120kmph ? The engine will explode bo ?
Coz on straightline, my stock bike can drag 3rd gear to around 80kmph that's nearing redline liao I think coz it sound very rough as if want to explode. So I don't dare drag any futher.. But on 4th gear it was rev free though.
I managed to hit 110kmph on 4th gear today with my gf on the back. That's 130kg on my stock ES. But I didn't full throttle maybe half. So I'm guessing the rev is around 6-7k rpm ? damn really need to get a RPM meter.
Hi Vance, engine won't explode la. Its about 9000+rpm only. I am roughly estimating the rpm with gear ratio only, wanted to install the meter, but easily got stolen. So just save the money for other performance parts, lol
ReplyDeleteTo be truth, I wallop my old LC more compare to my new ES.. That one I really drag it until the sound really loud. This ES I drag till the sound like starting to roar then I change gear. I'm more interested in very quiet but free flow pipe that look identical to stock pipe. Very takut police kacau. RPM meter can place where ?
ReplyDeleteBtw do you know dato kramat public bank ? There is an accessories shop next to it, opposite PG stadium.. got any exp shopping there ?
I didn't shop there before.
ReplyDeleteUsually free flow pipes are loud, because the air-fuel explosion sound will be transferred effectively out of the pipe. Superbikes like R1 got real good silencer to compensate the noise, but no one will actually do a high cost pipe for kapcai like 135LC.
TBH, the custom pipe that I am using is considered quiet. Those without silencer one, my ear drum will break.
Hmm.. u got a point about good silencer. Maybe 1 day I'll really need to hear for myself that pipe you're using now. Btw I work near komtar area.. eh do u have MSN or any IM ? I'm a bike craze.. Would love to know someone who is so pro about bike u know. can learn a thing or two.
ReplyDeleteAlthough me on MSN, but seldom chat because busy reading articles.
ReplyDeleteIt's better to meet up somewhere and chit chat face to face. We can set our appointment from MSN thou, cyeeyong@hotmail.com
Remember to ride your nicest bike out! xD
